1.Total funding: Companies we track raised over $8.1bn in funding in Q3-2024.
2.Cross-industry applications of AI: ‘AI’ is everywhere and is evident in the funding of AI led companies. The companies that raised significant funds last quarter highlight AI technologies are being developed across all sectors from software development, robotics, defense, biotech and security.
3.AI companies lead: Some of the highest fundraising amounts were observed in the AI sector. Safe Superintelligence raised $1 billion, Cohere raised $500m, while Baichuan Intelligence and Skild AI also raised substantial amounts. This demonstrates continued strong investor confidence in AI.
4.Autonomous tech gaining momentum: Several companies focused on autonomous tech such as Saronic, Volant and Forterra raised significant amount signaling rising interest in autonomous technology across various industries.
5.Notable Series A round: Companies like Baichuan Intelligence, Skild AI, Superluminal Medicines raised $390m, $300m and $120m, respectively, in Series A rounds, indicating confidence in the growth potential of new AI and robotics ventures.
6.AI and Robotics in Biotech and medicine: Companies like Histosonics and Superluminal Medicines highlight the integration of biotech with cutting-edge technologies such as robotics and AI to drive innovation, securing $102m and $120m in funding, respectively.
7.Decarbonisation and energy solutions: Companies focused on decarbonisation and energy innovation are also attracting investment. Utility Global raised $53 million for decarbonization, and 24M Technologies secured $87 million, reflecting growing interest in sustainable energy solutions.
8.Digital and Cyber Security funding: Digital and cybersecurity companies like BlackCloak, Picus Security, and Torq raised a combined total of over $130 million, signaling sustained interest in securing digital assets and infrastructures.
